The Pants.
Red Kap's Double-Knee Shop Pants are excellent for automotive work. They are comfortable, durable, lightweight, breathable, and, of course, they come with an extra layer of fabric at the knees to protect you from shop floors and driveways. I have ten of them for two weeks' worth of work. I've been wearing them for 3 years and they are all still going strong.
The Shirts
Red Kap is well known in the automotive world for durable clothing, and their industrial work shirt is no exception. They fit well, look professional, are durable, and breathable. They resistant stains from grease and automotive fluids, and the buttons don't come off very easily. I like the long sleeve version because it protects my arms while I'm working.
The Belt
This tactical belt from 5.11 is all plastic and made to last. The belt buckle is non-scratch to protect vehicle finishes. The buckle is well made. It adjusts easily and doesn't slip even after years of use. I highly recommend it.
The Jacket
Red Kap again! The mechanics jacket from Red Kap is basic, affordable, lightweight, and durable. This jacket is reasonably warm. I wear it outdoors down to about 20°F. I have three of these and they get faded long before they ever rip or come apart, even with daily shop use. It never gets caught on anything, but I do have to remove it sometimes to get my arm into the tightest of spaces.
The gloves
Gloveworks disposable gloves are some of the best I have found. The sizing is consistent from box to box. They are thin enough that I can wear them comfortably all day. They offer good protection from dort and grease, but they do tear sometimes when sliding your hand in and out of cramped areas. It's a decent tradeoff between comfort, convenience, and durability. They are also reasonably priced.
In conclusion, these are 5 of my top picks for work apparel when I'm doing automotive work. I use them day in and day out, and they serve me well. These would also be great gifts for someone who works with their hands a lot. Good quality apparel.isnt cheap, but its worth the investment. Stay safe!
